Description

The program is designed to qualify you for California State Board of Pharmacy registration as a Pharmacy Technician. California law requires this registration to work as a Pharmacy Technician. Our curriculum includes 260 hours of classroom instruction (lecture and labs) that will provide you with the theory and skills, and 340 hours of externship, in a variety of settings (such as retail and hospital) for hands-on, practical experience necessary for an entry-level position as a pharmacy technician in a variety of work settings.

Admissions Requirements

  1. You must be a high school graduate or possess a high school equivalency certificate.
  2. You must pass the MJC graduation competency test for reading and the program entry exam for math. Testing dates will be provided at the information meetings listed on the front of this brochure.
  3. To be registered with the California Board of Pharmacy you must pass a fingerprinting and criminal background check. The State of California may deny you registration if you have a felony conviction.
  4. You must attach two current, signed, letters of recommendation from persons familiar with your education, interpersonal communication skills, personal ethics and/or work experience. The letters must include contact information for the reference.
  5. You must also include a resume, copy of driver's license, and a letter of intent, and high school graduation or equivalency documentation.
