DESCRIPTION
Wayne State University is a comprehensive state funded university with 14 colleges and schools, offering more than 350 academic programs, including 126 bachelor's degree programs, 139 master's degree programs, 60 doctoral degree programs and 32 certificate, specialist and professional programs. As of fall 2003, over 31,000 students attended Wayne State University; the third largest university enrollment in Michigan. Because of its location and mission it is considered a leading urban research university.- The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is an academic unit of Wayne State University.
- Detroit Medical Center is one of the Midwest's leading centers for healthcare, research and education. The Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is designed to provide students with the latest tools to prepare them for health careers in the new economy Museums, theatres, stadiums, restaurants, major cultural and sporting events are situated near the college.
- A new residence hall is located on main campus, University owned and private apartments are available adjacent to the Detroit Medical Center within walking distance of the College.
- The Pharm.D. at Wayne State University is designed to produce a graduate who has a strong pharmacy data case with strong practice experiences focusing on identifying and resolving drug related problems by applying critical thinking skills developed through student problem-base learning.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Applicants to the pharmacy curriculum must satisfy W.S.U. admission requirements and present evidence of professional admissibility and promise of academic and professional competency.
- The Pharmacy Admissions Committee renders admission decisions. Applicants must complete a Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Doctor of Pharmacy Application.
- Non W.S.U. students must also complete a W.S.U Undergraduate Application and submit a $30.00 application fee ($50.00 for foreign applications).
- The application deadline for admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy Program is February 1. The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) is required of all applicants for admission.
- A minimum score of 550 is required on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of applicants whose first language is not English. Effective fall semester 2004, all PharmD applications will be administered through PharmCAS, for further information contact www.pharmcas.org.
- The committee grants admission only for the fall semester. The committee evaluates applicants on core and science grade point average (GPA), recommendations and PCAT scores. A personal and/or written interview may be required. Transcripts are evaluated for continued success in a full time science based curriculum. A minimum core and science GPA of 2.5 (4.0 systems) calculated on the final grades earned in all prerequisite science and core courses is required to be considered for admission.
- All pre-requisite courses must be completed with a minimum grade of "C" (2.0).
- Completion of prerequisite requirements with minimum grades/scores does not insure admission. Science and math prerequisites must be complete by May 10. All other requirements must be complete by August 10. Because of rapid changes in technology, prerequisite science courses must be completed within five years before admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy program.

- and Philosophy and Letters.
