DESCRIPTION

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy was established in 1947 as the School of Pharmacy in the College of Liberal Arts and was granted college status in 1949.

CURRICULUM

The pharmacy curriculum consists of general education (social- behavioral-humanistic), basic science, pharmaceutical science, and clinical pharmacy components.
  • The curriculum is designed to educate and train pharmacy students to be competent health professionals in providing distributive and patient-oriented pharmaceutical services in any health care setting, whether it be community pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, or extended health care facilities.
  • The program also prepares those who are interested in working in governmental or industrial practice of pharmacy, or in graduate studies and research.
  • The College programs are accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education.

***Select a course with laboratory from the following: Chemistry, biochemistry, general biology or ecology, zoology, microbiology, molecular cellular biology, botany, physics, physiology or nutritional sciences. Students admitted to the College of Pharmacy begin studies in the fall semester.
  • Applications, transcripts of all college coursework, a list of courses in progress to be completed, student profile questionnaire, essay and applicant recommendations must be received by the College of Pharmacy no later than December 1.
  • The admissions committee considers not only the previous academic records of the applicants, but also their aptitudes and personal qualifications for the practice of pharmacy.
  • Interviews are required. Admission decisions are finalized by mid-April.
  • Must have 4-6 months work or volunteer experience
  • The PCAT is required.
  • Admission to the University of Arizona does not guarantee admission to the professional program.
