DESCRIPTION

In 1960, the Illinois legislature authorized a bond issue for construction of a new state university campus in Edwardsville. Voter approval came in 1960, and in the fall of 1965, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville opened its doors. Set in the midst of 2,660 acres of rolling land and woods, the academic center was designed by the internationally known architectural firm of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum of St. Louis.

CURRICULUM

At SIUE, students pursue an entry level Pharm.D. degree, which is comprised of two years of pre-pharmacy study and four years of professional study. Pre-pharmacy courses may be completed at a regionally accredited community college, college or university. The professional curriculum consists of 144 credit hours of didactic and experiential coursework.

The SIUE School of Pharmacy Admissions Committee is responsible for recommending students for admission to the Pharm.D. program. To qualify for admission to the professional program students must submit the following:
  1. Official transcripts documenting completion of the pre- Pharmacy curriculum from a regionally accredited college or university. The University will consider only those courses in which a student receives a grade of "C" or better. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.

  5. Other documents as specified by the Admissions Office. Students may obtain applications in October of the academic year preceding the year in which they plan to matriculate. Applications can be obtained from the School's web site at: www.siue.edu/PHARMACY. A $40 nonrefundable application fee is required at the time of application.
