Utah Pharmacy Technician Requirements

Pharmacy Technician Registration Requirements: [UT Board Reg. R156-17b-302]

  1. Applicant must pass the Board’s criminal background check.
  2. Applicant must complete a training program approved by the board.
  3. Applicant must submit an application to the pharmacy board.
  4. Applicant document current certification by a national, board approved
    pharmacy technician certification exam.
  5. Applicant must submit three blueprint finger cards. (Form FD-258)

Pharmacy Technician Training

  1. Individuals must complete a board-approved technician training program. The training program must require at least 180 hours of practical training supervised by a licensed pharmacist.
  2. The pharmacy can adopt The National Pharmacy Technician Training Program as part of its training program that is submitted to the Board for approval. Training also includes 180 hours of practical experience. [UT Board Reg. R156-17b-304]
