University of Louisiana – Online Pharmacy & Pharmacy Technician Degrees

DESCRIPTION

The establishment of The University of Louisiana at Monroe as Louisiana’s only state-supported center for pharmaceutical education was authorized by the State Board of Education on August 11, 1956.

  • The School was organized and the curriculum offered for the first time in September, 1956. A master of science (M.S.) degree was initiated in the fall of 1966 and the doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the fall of 1969.
  • The doctor of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree was approved by the Louisiana Board of Regents in March, 1998 and initiated in the fall of that same year.
  • The School of Pharmacy is located on the main campus of its parent institution and is housed in a modern structure of approximately 78,000 square feet on three floors.
  • On-campus housing is available for unmarried full-time undergraduate students. All such students under 21 years of age are required to reside on-campus unless exempted by the Dean of Student Affairs. All residence halls are airconditioned and most are constructed as two room suites with connecting baths. Private rooms are available in all residence halls at additional cost when space is available. All students living in campus housing are required to use university food service facilities. Campus housing is under the supervision of the Director of University Housing. Students should apply to the University Housing Office for residence hall reservations.

CURRICULUM

The six-year curriculum leading to the doctor of pharmacy degree consists of a two-year pre-professional program and a four-year professional program embodying modern concepts of clinical education and pharmacy practice.
