ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
The College does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex or religion. Applications from women and from members of minority groups are encouraged. High school graduates and transfer students are admitted to the preprofessional program if they are accepted by the University Graduate Admissions Office. Application forms may be obtained from 250 Student Services Building, Salt Lake City, UT 84112. Admission to the University does not guarantee admission to the professional program. Admission to the PharmD professional program is determined by the Pharmacy Admissions Committee (PAC) and is limited to 45 students. Transfer students first apply for admission to the University at the address given above. All applicants also must obtain a special University of Utah College of Pharmacy Application for Admission and submit it to the PAC by the first Monday in February. Supplementary transcripts for courses completed after application to the University must be sent to the University Admissions Office. Students are admitted in the autumn semester only. The Graduate Program requires a GPA of 3.0 as necessary to be considered for admission. Selection is determined primarily by grade-point average and by the PAC's assessment of the candidate's written statement of purpose and motivation. The PCAT (Pharmacy College Admission Test) is required. A personal interview will be requested to assess these factors as well as communication skills, maturity and career goals. Foreign applicants whose first language is not English are required to obtain a minimum score of 55 on the Test of Spoken English (TSE-A). Priority is given to qualified applicants as follows: Utah residents, nonresidents attending the University, other nonresidents and foreign students. Applicants who have not completed all preprofessional courses may be conditionally accepted if all requirements can be completed by 1 July of the year they are applying for admission. Successful applicants are required to submit a nonrefundable $500.00 tuition deposit. Notification of status will be sent as soon as possible but selection of the class may not be completed before May 1.
