DESCRIPTION
The mission of the College of Pharmacy is to address society's contemporary and future pharmaceutical needs through teaching, research and service. The College is located in the David R. Coker Life Sciences Building on Sumter Street on the University campus in downtown Columbia, just 3 1/2 blocks south of the State Capitol. There is easy access to the downtown Columbia campus from either I-20, I-26 or I-77. As part of a comprehensive university, students in pharmacy have the opportunity to interact with students of all majors and participate in a wide variety of cultural, intramural and extramural sports activities. The Columbia campus includes colleges of nursing, pharmacy, health, business administration, journalism, social work, librarianship, education, criminal justice, applied professional science, medicine, law and music, as well as traditional liberal arts colleges of humanities and social science and science and mathematics. In addition to social fraternities and sororities, there are the following pharmacy student organizations: Academy of Students of Pharmacy of the American Pharmaceutical Association, Student Chapter of American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, Rho Chi Pharmaceutical Honor Society, Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society, Christian Pharmacist Fellowship International, Student National Pharmaceutical Association, and professional fraternities (Kappa Psi and Kappa Epsilon). There are several forms of housing available on the University of South Carolina campus, including co-ed accommodations and married student housing. The South Carolina College of Pharmacy (SCCP) was formed in 2004 through the integration of the Colleges of Pharmacy at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston to advance pharmacy education, research, and service.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Any student who wishes to pursue a pharmacy degree and who fulfills requirements for admission to the University will be accepted into the pre-pharmacy program of study. Students who are attending other colleges or universities and who wish to transfer to the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy's professional program should complete equivalent pre-pharmacy courses in an accredited program with grades of "C" or better. Enrollment in the professional program is limited and only the most qualified students, as determined by the College's Admissions Committee, will be accepted. Student who wish to enter the professional program must submit a completed College of Pharmacy application form no later than January 15th of the year in which fall admission is desired.
