DESCRIPTION


CURRICULUM

The purpose of the College of Pharmacy is to provide curricula for the comprehensive academic needs of the profession of pharmacy. The College's doctor of pharmacy degree program prepares students for the practice of pharmacy and the delivery of pharmaceutical care. Its graduate program prepares individuals for professional specialization and careers in teaching and research.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

To be admitted to the professional program in the College of Pharmacy, a student must complete prepharmacy academic requirements. The two years of prepharmacy education can be completed at any institution provided the courses are equivalent to those offered at the University of Georgia. Not less than 60 semester hours of academic work must be completed to satisfy prepharmacy requirements. In addition, students must meet the general requirements for physical education. Sem. hrs

  • Applicants to the professional program must take the Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT). The fall offering date is the preferred time.
  • In addition to the applicant's GPA, the selection process will utilize the PCAT scores and recommendations.
  • Personal interviews may be required. Application to the College of Pharmacy should be submitted by February 1. Transcripts showing all college work taken should accompany the application.
  • Students may make application to the dean of the College of Pharmacy when they have completed two semesters of academic work.
  • Applicants who are accepted but do not attend for the accepted term may repeat the admission process for a future date.
  • Freshman students entering the University of Georgia are eligible to exempt courses by utilizing the College Entrance Examination Board Advance Placement tests. These tests may be completed during a summer orientation program or during the academic year.
