DESCRIPTION
The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy was established in 1947 as the School of Pharmacy in the College of Liberal Arts and was granted college status in 1949.- Our mission as a college is to educate students to become competent and contemporary practitioners of pharmacy who, by delivering the highest quality of pharmaceutical care, will ultimately be responsible for safe, rational, and cost-effective drug therapy.
- The degree program is the six-year doctor of pharmacy (PharmD), which consists of two years of prepharmacy coursework and may be completed with equivalent courses at any accredited university or college, and four years of professional coursework in the College of Pharmacy.
- The College also offers the master of science (M.S.) and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees in the various pharmaceutical disciplines.
- The College of Pharmacy building, which was dedicated in November of 1982, is situated in The University of Arizona Health Sciences Center and provides pharmacy students with ready access to an excellent medical library and clinical teaching facilities.
- A valuable part of university life is the opportunity to meet and participate in activities outside the classroom with students of varied cultures and interests.
- Through these relationships students learn from each other and broaden their horizons. In addition, participation in student organizations provides opportunities to learn of community involvement and to develop leadership qualities.
- Pharmacy students are encouraged to become active in student affairs such as the Academy of Students of Pharmacy, the main pharmacy student organization, and/or one of the pharmacy fraternities such as Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Psi, or Phi Delta Chi.
- For housing information refer to The University of Arizona homepage at http://www.arizona.edu/attending/housing.shtml.
