DESCRIPTION
The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences ranks among the top pharmacy schools in the nation as judged by peer evaluations. Founded in 1886, it is the only pharmacy school in the State University of New York system and has one of the most outstanding programs in an academic institution rapidly rising to the top rank among public universities in the country. The faculty of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has established a reputation for excellence in scholarship, teaching and research. Student life is a priority on campus. A lively, intellectual ferment is encouraged in hundreds of political, social, cultural and recreational events and scientific symposia held each week. Hundreds of student clubs and affinity groups (including 11 in pharmacy) provide outlets for just about any interest. Numerous student services (health, advisement, counseling, legal aid, etc.) are available both in the University and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Though the University is extensive, relationships are personal, particularly within the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which has approximately 400 enrolled students. The UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences offers a six-year, entry-level Pharm.D. program, consisting of pre-pharmacy coursework followed by four years of the professional program. A MBA/Pharm.D. or a Pharm.D./Ph.D. are options. Pharmaceutics bachelors, masters and a five-year joint B.S./M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are also available.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
The initial application is completed through PharmCAS for everyone except early assurance students. This is followed by a supplemental application, which is sent after receipt of the PharmCAS application. All International students must complete a University at Buffalo international application in order to obtain a VISA to study in the U.S. An early assurance program is available for qualified students who enter the University as pre-pharmacy freshmen. Applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or higher in science and math courses will be given priority consideration. Pre-Pharmacy coursework consists of the following: two semesters each of general chemistry w/labs, and organic chemistry w/labs, 2 semesters of general biology w/labs; two semesters of physics; two semesters of calculus, one course in statistics, one course in behavioral science, two English composition courses (or equivalent demonstrable proficiency) and one course in economics. Students may also have to satisfy the University's general education requirements. Course waivers may be available for students who enter with baccalaureate degrees. Questions regarding coursework should be referred to the Office of Admissions in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Pharmacy College Admission Test (PCAT) or an equivalent standardized test (e.g. MCAT, DAT) is a requirement for admission. It is preferred that applicants take an earlier PCAT test date. The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences operates on a rolling admission system with applications available in December of each year for entrance into the fall semester of the following year. Individual decisions will be made after all of the applicant's materials have been received, and will continue until all seats in the class have been filled. Applicants are also STRONGLY encouraged to contact the Office of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences Admissions to ascertain that entrance requirements have been met. Please contact the Office of Pharmacy admissions regarding the acceptability of advanced placement (AP) courses.
